NCC commences construction

of Patna Metro Rail project

Last year on 17th February, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had laid the foundation stone of the Patna Metro Rail project. After that DMRC had made some changes in the alignments of the corridor in view of providing metro connectivity to more people. The 14.05 km Corridor-2 of Phase I of the Patna Metro Rail project will connect Patna Railway Junction to New ISBT through 14 stations.

Workers from NCC Limited has now started pre-construction activities for the construction
of a 6.107 km elevated viaduct and have metro stations on Corridor-2 of Phase I of the 30.91 km Patna Metro Rail project. They have deployed a piling rig in the Bhoothnath neighborhood to begin the first step of construction work and barricaded some portions of the corridor-2 on Bypass Road, and started conducting a new round of geotechnical soil investigation to validate the findings of a previous investigation conducted by CEG Group.

After winning the civil contract package (PC-01) by NCC Limited in August 2020, Delhi Metro Rail Corporation Limited (DMRC) had issued the letter of acceptance (LoA) to NCC Limited with a value of Rs 552.93 crore. The contractor has to complete the work in 2.5 years (30 months).

The scope of work under this contract includes Part Design and Construction of the Elevated Viaduct, Viaduct connection to the Depot including an elevated ramp for the Depot, Stabling & Extension of the Viaduct for Corridor-1 at Khemni Chak Station, Special Spans, Elevated Ramp at Malai Pakri and Five Elevated Stations viz. Malai Pakri, Khemni Chak (Interchange station), Bhoothnath, Zero Mile & New ISBT (Excluding Architectural Finishing works of stations & PEB works of stations) from Chainage 8020.000 mt. to 14127.726 mt. of Patna Railway station to New ISBT Corridor 2 of Phase-I of Patna Metro Rail project.
